Offline is a technology platform for a networking community — not an organiser, host, venue, merchant or payment provider (see our Terms). This policy explains how the Offline website at offline.ae and the Offline members app use cookies and similar technologies — such as your browser's local storage, service workers and push notifications. It is issued by Offline Technologies FZ-LLC (licence no. [●]), a company incorporated in the Masdar City Free Zone, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with its registered office at [●] ("Offline") and forms part of our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site work properly, remember your choices, and — depending on the type — help measure how the site is used or support advertising. Similar technologies like local storage do comparable things.

The types of cookies a site can use

For transparency, here are the common categories you'll see across most websites, and whether Offline uses them today:

Strictly necessary In use

Needed for the site to function and for things you ask for — such as remembering that you've dismissed the cookie notice, or keeping a page secure. These can't be switched off without breaking the site.

Performance & analytics Not in use

Help a site understand how visitors use it — which pages are viewed, what works and what doesn't — usually through aggregated statistics. We don't use these today.

Functionality & preferences In use

Remember choices you make to give a more personal experience. The app stores small preferences — such as the look (theme) you pick and which introductory cards you’ve dismissed — in your browser’s local storage, on your device. They are never used to track you or shared with anyone.

Targeting & advertising Not in use

Used to build a profile of your interests and show or measure advertising, often set by third parties across different sites. We don't use these today.

What Offline uses today

The website sets no cookies of its own. It uses your browser’s local storage for one thing only: to remember that you have dismissed the cookie notice. No third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or embedded content load on the website; links to Instagram and to the app take you to those services under their own policies. The app uses strictly necessary and functional local storage (see below). We do not use performance, analytics or advertising cookies, we don't track you across other websites, and we don't sell any information collected through cookies. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we'll update this policy and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before setting them.

The Offline app

The Offline members app is a progressive web app. Rather than advertising cookies, it relies on a few strictly necessary and functional technologies to work:

• Local storage: keeps you securely signed in between visits (a sign-in token from our authentication provider, which includes your account email), and remembers a few preferences — your theme, whether you have been asked about notifications, which notifications and introductory cards you have already seen, and whether you have added our calendar. This data stays on your device, is not used to track you and is cleared when you sign out or clear the site’s storage.
• Service worker: lets the app load reliably and receive the notifications you've enabled.
• Push notifications: if you turn them on, the app stores a notification token on your device so we can deliver messages such as event reminders and connection requests. You can turn them off at any time in the app or your device settings.

The app does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear this data at any time by signing out, clearing the site's storage in your browser, or uninstalling the app. On a shared or public device, sign out when you finish so that your sign-in token is removed.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and set most browsers to warn you before accepting one. Because the storage we use is essential, blocking it may stop parts of the site or app from working as intended. Strictly necessary cookies and storage do not require consent under the PDPL; if we introduce analytics or advertising technologies we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to refuse or withdraw it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the current version here with a new "last updated" date.
